An (Almost) Christmas Story

The first of this year’s Christmas stories is up now – jump straight across to read A Bad Batch, or read on below for a few more details!

As I mentioned in last week’s blog, I’ve decided to make this a bit of an escapism zone for December (and yes, I know that technically it’s not December yet, but technically schmecnically. It’s my blog). Which means lots of short stories and no gift lists or holiday guides, because I feel more like telling stories than I do thinking about proper things.

Plus I haven’t started writing cards or buying presents yet, and I might panic if I think about it too much.

I also thought we could revisit a few old friends, because Christmas is good for that. So let’s start with Gertrude, because I like Gertrude. You may remember her as baking-obsessed reaper, who found her job description suddenly expanded to ghoulet nanny – if you want to catch up, you can read her first story here, although both stories stand alone.

Enjoy, and let me know below – what’s your favourite December treat? I have to admit to having a real soft spot for mince pies (home made, of course!)…

Hey, I said home made. I never said anything about WELL made.

  1. My favorite Christmas treats are small white cookies that some call Russian Tea Cakes, Wedding Cookies or Snowballs. I call them snowballs because they are loaded with fluffy white powdered sugar and a winters delight.

    1. Oops, I seem to have replied on FB but not on here! Snowballs sound like a wonderful Christmas indulgence – I’ve not tried them, but you had me at “loaded with fluffy white powdered sugar”, really… 😉
