In which I finally get around to talking about Nine Parts Bluster and Other Stories by A.Z. Anthony, which is a very good collection of four not-very-short horror-ish stories which I read, enjoyed, and lost in the depths of my Kindle. And now I’ve remembered them, I need to go see what else he’s got out…
As had previously been observed, I hoard books on my Kindle like that prehistoric squirrel from Ice Age. It doesn’t matter that I’m not going to read it right now, I need it. Just in case all books disappear from the world, I must have a lifetime’s supply in my Kindle, which is now at the point that every time I look at the unread list I feel a little faint and have to go lie down in a darkened room. Which normally results in my browsing social media which is full of all the books I don’t have yet, and must have. Must. (I bought 9 Parts Bluster because I chatted to A.Z.Anthony on twitter for long enough to wonder what he wrote.)
Which goes a long way to explain why it can take me a terribly long time to get to a book if I don’t read it immediately, and also why anything I do read gets rapidly buried under the new books. Which is also why I often feel horribly guilty that I buy books from very nice people and never tell them how much I enjoyed them.
I enjoyed this. Thank you. More about Chen and Senesio, please!
Have you read Nine Parts Bluster, or any of A.Z. Anthony’s other work? Did you enjoy them? And how’s your Kindle looking? Does the to-read list send you to a darkened room? Let me know below!

Am I really the only comment on this one? Here I was, thinking I was taking FOREVER to be able to catch up on these vids because I almost never have my earbuds with me and rarely have time alone to listen without them.
Anyway, I’ve not read anything by A.Z. Anthony, but you make this one sound pretty intriguing! I love almost all horror, and if it has some humor in it, then all the better. There’s really no book genre anywhere that doesn’t benefit from humor of some type, right?
I am guilty of the same behavior as you. I purchase interesting-sounding books to support online friends and up & coming authors, but if I don’t read them immediately, they are quickly buried in the TBR pile, whether it’s a physical pile or a digital one. I keep saying next time I’m in between projects, I’ll get caught up with my pleasure reading, and when I’m between projects, none of the “I NEEDED this” books look like what I’m in the mood for. Sigh.

There are just too many good books out there! A.Z. Anthony told me after I put the vid up that he has a full-length book featuring Senesio and Chen coming out very shortly, so I NEED that one, but I’ve also just found two other indie authors with a back catalogue I MUST read, plus a whole slew of other that I still need to try out. *Sigh*
I read much less horror these days than I used to, because I find too little of it has a sense of humour. It’s just violent and slashy. I can take a lot of suspense and a certain amount of nastiness, but to me a really good horror needs a sly little bit of humour in there. And you’re quite right – humour goes a long way to making every genre better. Life’s serious enough already without books taking themselves too seriously as well. 😉
