It’s the first week of January.
I’d like some money back on 2018, because it went so fast that I feel a little shortchanged. I think someone stole July and August, and at least part of May and June. Maybe September as well. I mean, I know time’s meant to go quicker as you get older, but at this rate by the time I’m 60 a year’s only going to last eight and a half days.
Having said that – January of last year also feels like a really long time ago. Really. As if so much has happened between now and then that it’s utterly impossible for it to have taken only a year to happen. Although, don’t ask me to tell you what those things were, because apparently they were mostly so long ago that I can no longer remember them.
So, actually, the years getting shorter as I get older may be no bad thing, as otherwise I won’t remember much of them …
All of which is a really long way around to say that this is a very incomplete round-up of my favourite reads of 2018. I’ve remembered at least half a dozen I should have included since I shot the video, and although I deliberately left out the biggies like Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett, there are so many others I should have included, like the Worst Werewolf series by Jacqueline Rohrbach. But these were the ones that came to mind immediately, so I guess that says something too.
How about you, lovely people? What were your best (and worst) reads of 2018? (Ooh, now I want to do a post on my worst reads, but I won’t, mostly because they’d all be DNFs, and I’d also never want to find myself on a list like that, so…). Anyhow – let me know what you loved in 2018 so I can add them to my TBR!
